It looks like as of now we plan to bring the halftrack weather permitting. 7th Panzer will also be setting up a camp. with three to four attendees. This will be the last event of the year I feel.

Well the event is over and weather-wise it was a great way to finish 2015. Only Steve and I could make it for the 53rd but we had good support from other units and managed to make do as a thrown together Kampfgruppe. Here are pics. My favorite shot showing over-watch of our area. Relaxed in our defensive position. The first two photos are from the afternoon when we defended and had time for photo taking. The morning was constant attack and movement. Emptied the gas tank on the track. Going over approach plans in the morning. Commandeered temporary HQ setup. Comfy. The new MG-34 gas gun really performed well and drew lots of positive comments for the loud bark and proper sounding rate of fire. I was disappointed that the one thing I forgot to bring was a proper mount for the shield and so it had to be supported with a blanket and bungy cord which was not ideal and detracted from the gunner's fun. Oh well... it's always one thing. Track ran great all day. Got a peek at the 222 radio build and was very impressed. BTW - the 222 is moving forward again. Tee hee. Thanks to Heinrich a new 7th Panzer member for the photos. More about the event at the link above.

Very nice event. It was cold the first night but we were inside. On the day of battle the weather was terrific. Like Mike said, the halftrack and gun performed exceptionally well so no complaints there. Thanks to Mike Boden and his GD unit for providing us with a place to stay. We also had a motorcycle at the event which Juergen Mueller brought along but he cut out early on Saturday so our only vehicle for us and the 7th Panzer guys was Ilse.
Mike's cot ripped on the first night so that building has been a jinx for our unit's cots as Mike Wellnitz lost his two years ago. I know it is a coincidence but it is sort of funny.
Our next event should be a January Christmas gathering in Watertown at one of the 7th Panzer unit's member's home so we'll keep you posted. By that time, the 222 build should be in the paint shop I hope.
